In the United States, PlaNet Finance’s mission is:

  • To raise funds for projects designed and managed by the PlaNet Finance Group’s entities
  • To raise microfinance awareness by organizing events and representing the group at conferences
  • To help develop PlaNet Finance Group’s projects in the US

PlaNet Finance in the US is looking for a Fundraising Officer to support its next phase of growth. Based in New York, this is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

A: Fundraising - (80%)

  • Organize an annual Fundraising Gala to raise funds for PlaNet Finance. Our next Gala will be held in the Spring of 2012. Fundraising goal: more than $300,000, with 150 high-level attendees and the organization of auctions;
  • Develop and implement a 2 year fundraising and development strategy;
  • Identify and contact corporations, foundations and public institutions/donors to raise funds for projects undertaken by PlaNet Finance Group’s network;
  • Develop long-term partnerships with private and public donors, in coordination with the headquarters’ fundraising department;
  • Explore new fundraising opportunities such as developing Microworld in the US; Microworld is PlaNet Finance’s peer-to-peer lending platform;
  • Represent PlaNet Finance Group in the US, Raise awareness about microfinance and PF mission by participating to conference or events;
  • Work in team with others PF Northern Offices and create synergies within the worldwide network.

B: General Management - (20%)

In this capacity, the Fundraising Officer will also be responsible for managing the office and report to the President of PlaNet Finance in the US as well as to the Managing Director of the Group in Paris.

  • Design and implement PlaNet Finance US’s strategy
  • Prepare and monitor annual budget
  • Work in collaboration with auditor to prepare financials and taxes annually
  • Prepare and send tax deduction receipts to donors
  • Report monthly to head office
  • Recruit, train and supervise staff (interns, program assistants, etc...)
  • Organize annual Board of Directors meeting
  • Organize Advisory Board meetings (2x a year)

Skills

  • US Citizen
  • At least 7 years of fundraising experience
  • A strong network and connections in the region, either with private foundations or companies
  • At least 1 experience in planning a major fundraising event
  • Commitment to international development, knowledge of CSR trends and understanding of the microfinance industry
  • Ability to create persuasive, clear and concise communications to different publics. Strong public presentation, ability to develop positive and productive relationships.
  • Ability to interact with various types of actors (international donors, banks, NGOs, micro-entrepreneurs, governments) and work with different cultures across a worldwide network of affiliates
  • Self-starter & ability to work independently
  • Good organization skills
  • French language a plus

Volunteer Position Starting December 1st, 2011

 

PlaNet Finance U.S. is now looking for an intern who will participate in our current fundraising campaign for innovative microfinance programs in the MENA region and in Africa. The internship would start mid-September and last for 12 weeks.

The position is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in a career in international development. The internship will provide valuable organizing and networking skills. The ideal candidate is energetic, has good communication skills and a strong concern for social justice issues.
